When God saw the sin of this world, he was grieved and his heart was filled with pain. He knew the consequences would be his own children ending up their life in hell. He wanted his children to repent from their sins and be close to him. He wanted them to know him, understand him and follow him.
That’s the reason God chose his own son Jesus Christ.
John 3:16
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Hebrews 4:15-16
15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are--yet was without sin.
16 Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
1. He was tempted but without sin. Faithful and loved like God.
2. God sent his son as an ordinary human being into this world to relate to his people.
Jesus was a powerful leader. He made disciples and raised them to be powerful leaders to lead other people.
Ezekiel 22:30
"I looked for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found none.
God wants leaders to stand in the gap before Him.
What happens if there is no Leader?
1. People become independent.
Judges 21:25
In those days Israel had no king; everyone did as he saw fit.
E.g. 1. They will bring new rules in the church.
2. They might break the laws by disobeying.
So many movements have become monuments and got divided for this reason. Leaders will inspire people and bring them to unity.
Why God needs leaders?
1. To teach people to obey.
Matthew 28:18-20
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
2. To forgive others.
Jeremiah 5:1
"Go up and down the streets of Jerusalem, look around and consider, search through her squares. If you can find but one person who deals honestly and seeks the truth, I will forgive this city.
3. To believe and train the weak to become strong.
1 Samuel 22:2
All those who were in distress or in debt or discontented gathered around him, and he became their leader. About four hundred men were with him.
David became a leader for all problematic people. (Distress, debt and discontented.) He believed in them, started training them with his personal example. David raised up lot of powerful leaders.
* Josheb Barshebeth: He raised his spear against 800 men whom he killed in one encounter.
* Eleazar: He stood his ground and struck down the Philistines till his hand grew tired and froze to the sword.
* Joab: Was a commander of David’s army.
4. To be a servant.
Matthew 20:25-28
25 Jesus called them together and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them.
26 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,
27 and whoever wants to be first must be your slave--
28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."
To serve his people.
